Box Score

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College men's basketball team couldn't overcome a slow start in an 84-75 loss to North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opponent Lancaster Bible College Saturday afternoon in Asplundh Field House.

After Larry Stevenson III opened the scoring with a 3-pointer 41 seconds into the game, Lancaster Bible went on a 21-5 run over the next 9:26 to claim a 21-8 advantage. The Lions (7-10, 4-4 NEAC) were 2-of-15 shooting and committed four turnovers during the run, while the Chargers (12-4, 8-0 NEAC) shot 8-of-15—including a 4-of-4 stretch to open the surge.

Lamarr Crenshaw pulled Bryn Athyn back within 21-13 with a jumper with 8:23 left in the half. The brief momentum was short-lived as Lancaster Bible seven straight points to take a half-high 15-point lead (28-13). Stevenson III drained a 3-pointer with nine seconds remaining to trim the Charger advantage to 36-24 at the half.

Bryn Athyn put together a strong start to the second half, running off eight points in a row to get within 36-32 on a Rahim Washington fast-break layup 3:16 into the half. With the Charger lead back up to 44-34 thanks to an 8-2 burst, Washington and Stevenson III drilled back-to-back 3-pointers to trim the gap to 44-40 with 12:50 to play.

The Lancaster Bible lead reached 10 points again at the 8:10 when a Bill Livezey made a layup. Once again, Bryn Athyn attempted to surge back to pull within four (60-56) thanks to a 6-0 run capped by a James Flagg free throw with 6:54 left.

The Chargers were able to secure the victory by going on a late 12-6 run to widen their advantage to 78-67 with 1:34 remaining.

Washington posted a game-high 22 points, while Stevenson III finished with 17 points. Both players shot 5-of-10 from 3-point range. Christian Rivera contributed 11 points, nine rebounds, and five assists. Jerome Staley and Crenshaw added 10 points each.

Quentin Davis and Herbie Brown paced the Chargers with 16 points a piece.

Lancaster Bible shot 54.8 percent (34-of-62) from the field, while Bryn Athyn made 40.0 percent (24-of-60) of its shots. The Lions were the much better 3-point shooting team as they went 13-of-26 from behind the arc compared to 2-of-13 for the Chargers.

Bryn Athyn heads to New Jersey to take on the College of Saint Elizabeth in a NEAC clash on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 5 p.m.
