Box Score MORRISTOWN, N.J. – Lamarr Crenshaw poured in a career-high 28 points on 10-of-14 shooting for the Bryn Athyn College men's basketball team but missed a game-tying 3-pointer in the final seconds as the Lions fell to the College of Saint Elizabeth 87-84 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest Tuesday night.
Bryn Athyn (7-11, 4-4 NEAC) led by 13 points when Christian Rivera, who finished with 17 points, knocked down a layup to make the score 63-50 with 14:43 left in the contest.
After matching its largest lead of the half, the Lions struggling on the offensive end of the floor over the 9:32. Bryn Athyn shot 2-of-13 overall and turned the ball over seven times as Saint Elizabeth (4-11, 1-7 NEAC) would go on a 25-7 run to take a 75-70 advantage.
Trailing 80-75 with three minutes remaining, Crenshaw drained a layup and Rivera connected on a 3-pointer in a 34-second span to knot the game at 80.
With the Eagles leading 84-83, the Lions defense forced two missed shots, but each time Saint Elizabeth was able to secure the offensive rebound. The possession would end with Cam Tucker hitting two free throws to extend the gap to 86-83 with 13 seconds left. The teams both went 1-for-2 from the free throw line to set up the Lions for a game-tying possession. Crenshaw ended up with the ball and fired up a 3-pointer with less than two seconds on the clock that didn't fall.
Bryn Athyn was in control for the entire first half thanks to 18-of-38 shooting from the field, including 9-of-18 from 3-point range. The Lions led by as many as 14 points during the opening 20 minutes and was up 45-36 at the break.
Rahim Washington added 13 points, seven assists, six rebounds, and two steals for the Lions.
Jason Saldiveri paced Saint Elizabeth with 33 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Tucker had 23 points, while Roland Romano scored 10 points.
The Eagles shot 61.3 percent (19-of -31) during the second half and shot 50.7 percent (34-of-67) for the game. Bryn Athyn ended the game shooting 46.3 percent (31of-67).
Bryn Athyn heads to Penn State Berks for a NEAC clash on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 1 p.m.
