Box Score CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Tariq Moore maintained his hot-hand through the holiday break as he poured in a game-high 26 points for the Bryn Athyn College men's basketball team in a 90-60 loss to host DeSales in the opening round of the Al Senavitis Memorial Tournament in Billera Hall Saturday afternoon.
Moore—who scored 20+ points for the fifth time this season—was lethal shooting the ball by going 8-of-10 from the field and 10-of-13 at the free-throw line. He also racked up five steals, four assists, and three rebounds.
As a team, Bryn Athyn finished the game shooting 23-of-59 (39.0 percent), including 3-of-21 (14.3 percent) from 3-point range. DeSales (5-4) countered by going 34-of-65 (52.3 percent) overall, 13-of-25 (52.0 percent) from behind the 3-point arc.
The Bulldogs had three players score in double-figures, led by a 17-point, 8-assist, 6-rebound effort from Jordan Holmqvist. Timmy Edwards added 16 points, while Matt Kachelries had 14 points.
Bryn Athyn got out to a 5-2 advantage on an Okoye Taylor 3-pointer just two minutes into the contest. With the Lions holding on a 9-5 lead, the Bulldogs ran off 11 consecutive points to claim a 16-9 lead with 12 minutes left in the half.
After Bryn Athyn closed the margin to 16-12, DeSales—led by nine points from Edwards—went on a 19-6 surge to open up a half-high 17-point lead (35-18).
An Anthony Burr 3-point and a Moore layup in the opening 28 seconds of the second half allowed Bryn Athyn to claw within 40-31. DeSales answered back by running off 19 of the next 29 points to extend the lead to 59-41. The Lions came as close as 14 the rest of the way.
Bryn Athyn (0-12) will take on Juniata in the consolation round on Sunday, Dec. 29 at DeSales.
