Men's basketball knocked off by Cairn

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College men's basketball team suffered a 100-72 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) loss to visiting Cairn in Asplundh Field House Thursday night.

Tariq Moore had a strong night shooting, going 8-of-16 overall, on his way to a game-high 25 points. It was the sixth this season that Moore eclipsed 20 points in a game.

Gabe Michnya, playing in his second game of the year, came off-the-bench to post a career-high 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting—2-for-2—from 3-point range in 14 minutes of action. Haybert Louchie contributed 13 points.

Bryn Athyn struggled with Cairn's size as the Highlanders won the points-in-the-paint battle 72-30 and outrebounded the Lions 52-27. Their ability to go inside allowed the Highlanders to shoot 53.4 percent (39-of-73) overall, while Bryn Athyn finished up shooting 38.1 percent (24-of-63).

Justin Dean led Cairn (6-7, 3-1 CSAC) with 21 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Brennen Addley contributed 18 points, while Kameron Clark racked up 16 rebounds and nine boards.

The opening 10:08 was a back-and-forth battle that featured seven ties and three lead changes. Bryn Athyn took its final lead of the game (18-16) on a Michnya 15-footer with 10:45 left in the opening half. After another Michnya bucket at the 9:27 mark tied the game at 20, Cairn went on a 28-12 run over the duration of the half to open up a 48-32 lead.

Bryn Athyn (1-15, 0-5 CSAC) returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 15 with a CSAC showdown at Centenary (N.J.) at 8 p.m.
