CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College men's basketball team suffered a 67-58 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) loss to Wilson Wednesday night in Nelson Gymnasium.
Tariq Moore was the game's top scorer with 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting. He also led Bryn Athyn (3-18, 2-8 CSAC) with seven rebounds. Okoye Taylor contributed 17 points, while Anthony Burr recorded nine points and five assists.
The Lions shot just 22.7 percent (5-of-22) from the field in the opening half, while the host Phoenix (9-12, 6-4 CSAC) made 33.3 percent (12-of-36) of their shots. This disparity in shooting allowed Wilson to lead 29-19 at the half.
Bryn Athyn owned a 6-5 advantage when Wilson ran off 11 of the next 14 points to open up a 16-9 lead with 12 minutes left in the half. About two minutes later, Wilson's lead reached a half-high 11 points (22-11) on a Jordan Miles 3-pointer. A run of six straight points, capped by a Burr triple, brought the Lions back within 22-17 with 4:27 remaining. The Phoenix built their lead back up to 29-19 at halftime.
Wilson opened the second half with an 11-5 surge to widen its lead to a game-high 16 points (40-24) at the 13:35 mark of the second half. Thanks to a pair of Dante Lanzetta 3-pointers, Bryn Athyn went on a 17-6 run over the next six minutes to cut the gap to 46-41. A Moore put back with 4:13 to go made it a one-possession game (50-47).
Over the next three minutes, Wilson outscored Bryn Athyn 13-3 to reestablish a 13-point lead (63-50).
Rashaan Bean paced Wilson with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Adrian Thomas, Anthony Desruisseau, and Miles all had 10 points.
The Lions ended the game shooting 32.7 percent (17-of-52), while the Phoenix shot 37.7 percent (23-of-61).
Bryn Athyn welcomes the College of Saint Elizabeth to Asplundh Field House for a CSAC contest on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 3 p.m.
