BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - The Bryn Athyn College men's basketball team scratched and clawed its way through a tough matchup with Cairn, ultimately falling 85-76.

Inside the Box Score
  • Jamal Cannady Jr. was as good as it gets: 28 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and a perfect 12-12 day from the free throw line.
  • Will Little was vital to the operation, totaling 17 points and 4 rebounds while also putting Cairn's best player in foul trouble.
  • Jaryn McCann was rock solid, going for 11 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block.
  • Isaiah Cureton proved to be reliable once again, amassing 9 points and 5 rebounds
How it happened
  • The teams spent most of the opening half in a gridlock. Neither team was able to pull away in the first half.
  • Cannady Jr. and Little did some heavy lifting to keep the Lions afloat.
  • The biggest lead for either team in the first half was 6, a surplus Bryn Athyn only held for 22 seconds.
  • Cairn cut the difference to 40-37 going into halftime.
  • A pair of strong offensive rebounds led to easy second-chance points for the Lions out of the break, putting them up 7 early in the second half.
  • The Highlanders then went on a 17-6 run with good transition offense.
  • Cairn drained a pair of 3s late to put the game out of reach.
  • The visiting Highlanders would go on to win 85-76.
Coach's Corner
"I thought we played a solid game. Both teams traded punches. These conference games come down to little moments and there was a stretch with a little over four to go that they hit two threes and we were empty that ballooned the lead to 9. I thought we did some good things and showed renewed energy defensively. But we are in a hole if we're going to shoot below 40% and let up 55% shooting. We will get better from this though. I loved what we got out of freshman Aaron Jones and Jamal Cannady Jr. did what we always does. " - Head coach Sean Westerlund.

Notes
  • Bryn Athyn shot 36% from the field and 26% from 3.
  • Cannady Jr. and Little combined to go 16-18 from the foul line.
  • Bryn Athyn drops to 2-4 in CSAC games.
  • Cairn is now 5-1 in conference
